Say 'NO' to Bullying.

"Courage is fire, and bullying is Smoke"
-Benjamin Disraeli-

Bullying is when someone does or says something to hurt another person. There are many types of bullying and it usually happens at school because the bully wants to be popular or they are jealous of the victim. Every type of bullying effects the victim's feeling towards attending school because they don't want to get hurt. Chances are, we all have experienced bullying, whether being a bully, get bullied or saw someone being bullied. A lot of school now have clubs to stop bullying. Everyone has the right to feel safe, and we can stop bullying and by attending clubs to prevent bullying and taking actions to become an upstander.

If schools have clubs to prevent bullying, students would be more confident to participate in schools. Students feel safe when the school has a bigger power over the bully. This program is not difficult; we only need adults who can take the responsibility to support this program and students who are interested. In addition, club's activities can support the victims by making posters, announcements and assemblies about bullying. Clubs and activities makes the victim feels blissful that there are people caring about them. Being in a club to prevent bullying, make you become one of the upstanders.

Being an upstander is to take action and to stand up against what is not right. For example, stop a fight in the hallway without taking sides and convince them to communicate effectively. Standing against the bully is not to be afraid of, "Don't fit it, Stand out" by Jason, meaning to don't just see when someone gets bullied, but help them but without worsening the situation. An upstander is an impetus of change, for both the school and the victim. This impetus of change changes the school to a place where everyone is confident towards school activities.

No one wants to be bullied, we can stop this issue by starting bullying clubs to prevent bullying to make the victims feels better because there are people who still care about them. Being in a club is like being an upstander. Take action and stand out. Together let's say 'no' to bullying.

  1. I really felt that we should be fighting for bullying after reading your post. It is clear that you used your time to research about the realities of bullying and ways of reducing them. I also can see that you put in some of your own emotions and feelings towards bullying. Can you think of any other way we can reduce bullying, except for having clubs and activities?

I totally agree with you when you said: "everyone has the right to feel safe", and how clubs about bullying will help prevent it. I believe that everyone should try to become an upstander, and that if you stand up to bullying, people around you will, and then the world will soon follow. Let us say no to bullying!
